Mystery Washburn EA20YS Acoustic/Electric Guitar. Need help Please!!?
Hi! I was at a garage sale recently and I picked up a gorgeous Washburn acoustic/electric guitar in excellent condition. I tried doing some research and I can barely find any information on it.
Model Number: EA20YS
Serial Number: 906608
Here is a short thread with a hint of info: http://forums.washburn.com/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=10413
And here is a list of Washburn guitars along with their prices (not including my EA20YS, of course): http://www.guitar.com.au/guitars/acoustic/washburn/index.htm
It is a beautiful guitar. It’s a cutaway, thin body. Real unique finish, at first glance it almost looks similar to mossy oak, except shinny (almost holographic).
If anyone has any information on this, PLEASE help me. I am interested in knowing it’s background, and of course, price.
It would be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much!
Additional Details
It also reads ” George Washburn Festival Series” above the serial and model numbers.
The EA means it’s an electric acoustic. The 20 model is a mini jumbo with a florentine cutaway. The S at the end means it has a solid spruce top and also has upgraded electronics. I’m not sure what the Y in the model name means, but it probably has something to do with the finish. Festival Series is just one of the lines of Washburn guitars. They’ve been making them for over 20 years, so it’s not like these were a specific limited edition model made for some music festival or anything like that that would give them more value. The list price on a new Washburn EA20S is about $522 but you never pay list price for a guitar. You can probably get a new one for closer to $300. I think if you got it for around $300 or less it was probably a good deal if it’s in good condition.
Your best bet for a good answer would be to contact Washburn directly. They could give you more detail based on the serial number. I’m guessing it’s a 1990 model since the serial number starts with 90, but that’s just a guess. They could tell you for sure.
