Used Acoustic Guitar For Purchase

Cheap Acoustic Guitar Solution?

I play electric guitar but sometimes get tired of lugging around the heavy guitar and amplifier. I would like to have a cheap acoustic guitar to throw around for these times. Don’t tell me i don’t want to buy a cheap guitar because I do, I understand that it’s value decreases severely after the purchase but this is not meant to be a guitar I use very much.

I would like to spend 150.00 or less
Acoustic/Electric would be preferred but I understand they don’t commonly appear in this price range.
If you suggest an acoustic guitar, what are some solutions (once again cheap ones) to amplifying this if I did want to. I know I’ve seen little pickups that you can put in the sound hole- something like that.

Thanks for the help.

I know it’s more than you want to spend but… it’s an acoustic / electric and you wouldn’t have to buy anything else. It’s also the lowest priced guitar with a SOLID spruce top (not “select” spruce plywood). The tone and projection are much better. Most plywood guitars play pretty well these days, but can sound kind of quiet and “dead” or “dry”. http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/Mitchell-MD100SCE-Dreadnought-Acoustic-Electric-Guitar?sku=518043

The non-electric version is in your price-range. These Mitchels are probably the best deal going on a lower-priced acoustic these days. http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/Mitchell-MD100S-Dreadnought-Acoustic-Guitar?sku=518972 You could add a sound hole pickup later… or just use a mic…

Epiphone, Yamaha and Washburn make decent solid spruce tops at the $200.00 mark. Quality might be a little better than the Mitchel. Ibanez make a decent acoustic, but they seem to be running a little pricier than the other brands right now. I have an Ibanez acoustic/electric with a solid spruce top and Fishman electronics. Ran me around $350.00. Nice guitar…

Just like with an electric guitar… it’s better to spend a few bucks more and get something that will keep you happy… unless you get the itch for something with a big brand name on it. Otherwise, you’ll just be buying another guitar before long and spending more in the long run. If you’re going to buy an acoustic, you might as well get a decent one to have around…
