What’s the best way to change my “tuning” on my guitar?
I have my guitar set to standard tuning, but many songs I wish to learn are changed to different tunings such as “open ‘C’ and I would like to learn how to do this, or a way of doing this. I am just nervous to do it because I am afraid I won’t be able to get back to standard tuning once I have done it.
Simple. Get a tuner.
Standard tuning, each string should be E A D G B E
Down 1/2 step would be: D# G# C# F# A# D#
Down a whole step would be D G C F A D
Down 3 half steps: C# F# B E G# C#
Down 4 half steps: C F Bb Eb G C
Also, for down tuning you will want thinker strings. If you play 9s at standard, 11s would be ideal down at C#.
