I need a thesis statement for an essay on music! help?
I’m in 10th grade english and doing an essay contrasting music from the 60s/70s and music from now.
my differences were:
style of music-(natural, acoustic V.S. technological)
reasoning behind lyrics-(equal rights, peace love V.S. sex drugs violence),
artists style and performance (fully clothed, simple show with acoustic guitar V.S. half naked, overthe top technological distorted music)
ANYWAYS, i need a thesis statement (up to 3 or 4 sentences) to have for my contrasting essay.
please help!
sorry if this sucks, my brain is fried right now from writing my own english paper
IDEAS
1. Use a lyric of a song from either the 60/70s or now as your opening statement. It could be about change or time passing, etc. Then in your next few sentences say very generally the differences in music and how it’s changed. (You’ll explain it later in the paper and shouldnt get too detailed in your introduction)
2. A quote or mention something big that happened in the 60/70s that may have affected music today.
3. Go the way that’s harder to word and pull off, but takes less thought. “Music has changed greatly since the sixties and seventies. How it sounds, its lyrics, and how the artists perform it has shifted with the attitudes of the audience and state of the world”
I don’t know, hope i helped somehow!

Sweet Baby James $4.22 The album that launched a thousand heavy-hearted singer-songwriters on their not-so-merry way, Sweet Baby James was arguably the first shot in what became the soft revolution of the early ’70s. A refugee of the Beatles’ Apple label, Taylor struck commercial gold with Sweet Baby James by augmenting his acoustic guitar and soothing vocals with laid-back accompaniment (which included equally influent… |

Foo Fighters $6.25 Assuming former Nirvana drummer Dave Grohl dreads the thought of forever being known as “the guy from Kurt Cobain’s band,” the last thing he’d want to hear is that the debut album from his new band Foo Fighters sounds much like one from the deceased duke of grunge. Unfortunately, Nirvana comparisons are not only inevitable, they’re bound to consume the dialog surrounding his quartet entirely. Per… |
