Gibson Les Paul Prices

Les Paul Standard or Gibson Hummingbird?
I have a Stagg guitar Model C516 (ser.# 0411v1005) but have since grown out of it. (It’s a guitar made for children, or maybe smaller people?) I was wondering which guitar to buy, a Gibson Hummingbird, or a Les Paul Standard. Prices aside (for the moment) what the the pros and cons of each guitar, how they hold up and play, and what guitar is suited for what type of player. Thanks!
That’s quite a big jump, going from a childrens’ guitar to something like a Les Paul. Have you gone to a instrument store and tried out some guitars?
That aside, the important thing is what style of music you want to play. The Hummingbird is an acoustic, so if you’re aiming to play anything rock, it’d be an iffy choice. The Les Paul is a great electric guitar, if you’re playing any kind of rock, blues or anything similar it’s a good choice.
As far as durability goes, electric guitars hold up better when abused due to heavier contruction and not having bodies made of thin wood panels.
The Les Paul is a very heavy guitar, though. There are weight-relieved versions to help with this, but they’re still quite heavy [Mahogany is a dense wood.]
Play would also be affected by the thickness of the strings. Acoustic guitars have heavier strings (for projection), which makes chording in particular a bit more challenging. Make sure you get the guitar set up by the shop when you buy it. A good shop will do this for free.
Hope this answers your questions.
