Could you please suggest a song for me to learn on guitar?
I have been teaching myself guitar for almost a month now. I do finger exercises daily. I do not know chords; I have been looking up the tabs for songs that I like that sound easy. However, I just can’t seem to find that “right” song that I can stick with and learn completely, without it being too difficult. I would like to list some of my favorite bands, and I want some suggestions on an easy song that I can learn. Copeland, Emery, Jars of Clay, Relient K…
OK, I have 6 answers now, and not one person read all the details to my question.. and these are all useless answers so far, because I do not care for the style of music of any of the songs suggested… so please suggest songs that I can actually get into! LOL
At least I actually like Pixie’s answer.. lol.
If you have a guitar-playing friend, I would suggest that you ask them if any of those bands have some easy songs you could learn.
Otherwise – I think that you should just attempt any songs you can for the moment to get used to chord changing/finger changing and then you can move onto the more difficult songs.
If you go to your local music store (musical instruments) they will usually have chord books – most of which also have guitar tabs in them. Sometimes these books are available for specific artists so you might even get a songbook full of Emery, or whoever.
Other than that – I find that chords are SO much easier :p
Try to find songs that have 3 chords or less in them, so there is less changing.

I realise that you may not think these are exactly ‘cool’ songs but they will help you get started, and you’ve probably heard them before
