Why buy a Fender “Blackie”?
Why not buy a Custom Shop American Stratocaster? I mean will I sound like Eric if I buy a copy of his guitar, will cigarette burns really make it sound more authentic. I guess I am missing the point. Its just for the asking price the guitar is not “real”. Thanks
Hello! Let’s face it; Eric Clapton has played many guitars over the years, and still sounds like Eric Clapton on every one. If you want his modifications, just buy the least expensive American Stratocaster, and install the readily-available parts upgrades afterwards. Even after the changes are in place, you will only have the basic tone established. You still will not sound exactly like Eric, and you probably do not want to anyway! “Blackies” are more for the collector or avid Eric Clapton fan, and less for the active player. And by the way, it is pretty easy to add the cigarette burn to a headstock! Best regards, Dana
