I Have a Question for all of You Music Lovers?
Hola, this is Frankie’s friend. I am a musician.
I had a conversation with my guitar teacher the other day about big changes in the history of music. One of the things we discussed was when the electric guitar came into being. He told me that one of these days someone (possibly in my generation) was going to come up with a new instrument. Of course I said I wanted to, so he told me to go for it. What have I got to loose?
My question to you is:
There are many different ways to create sound. For the piano it is to press. For the violin, cello, viola, etc. it is to slide. For other stringed instruments (such as guitar) it is to pluck. For wind instruments, it is to blow. For the drums, it is to hit. And so forth.
Here’s the fun part: Name any random sound that comes to mind. ANY sound. Anything that can be heard, because I might just be able to find some way to create an instrument using it.
I might fail, but I’m giving it a try. :] Thank you!
People invent instruments all the time. It’s just that none of them really have the range or versatility of those that already exist.
Really inefficient:

If you could come up with a totally new way of making sound that had range and versatility (and was portable) THAT would be great! Something that has it’s own unique abilities and sound, not that imitates a sound that already exists. We have synthesizers to do that.
