Strange question about electric guitar?
I have been playing for about 3 years now I am pretty good but I have this one issue that just keeps circling my head. How do guitar players from those Hair Metal bands back in the 1980′s right really good 1 hit wonder singles? I just don’t know how to write something that good or even know where to start? I don’t want to end up as a jonas brother playing three punk rock chords…
Yeah, no offense to the other person but if you don’t want to be stuck playing power chords, don’t look to Sum 41 as inspiration. Just play what comes naturally, use palm muting, come up with riffs that don’t use power chords. I’m assuming you know at least basic theory if you’ve been playing for that long, so you shouldn’t have a problem staying in key. Keep working on unique chords, riffs, and progressions, and you’ll come up with something amazing eventually. If you just totally fail at this, than get lessons.
