beginner electric guitar question… of some sort.?
my brother asks, though i don’t think it makes much sense; what kind of exercises helps you to be able to play electric solos like, maybe, metallica or iron maiden stuff ?
he was struggling with his guitar since maybe 10-11 months, downloading guitar tabs, trying to play them… and even though i keep telling him, try easier stuff like maybe cranberries first, he keep trying immortal (some super fast black metal band) and stuff like that.
he is like downloaded and watched maybe 50 guitar lessons dvds, where they keep talking about pentatonic scales and whatever (i even memorize the krap)… i guess he just need discipline and stick with a certain song until he can throughly play it…
all in all, he feels like he is missing something, i guess? what might that be?
There’s a great DVD set that’s right up your brother’s alley, since it walks you through the steps needed to play really complicated metal solos. There are three DVDs (beginner, intermediate, advanced) and a book for each of them and they contain everything he’d learn from years of private lessons. But the advantage of working with DVDs is he’ll be able to work at his own pace and pick and choose the things he wants to know. And when he’s struggling, he can go back and review the relevant parts. Even better, the whole set costs less than $40. Here’s a link:
