I can’t tell if I’m a left or right handed guitar player?
Well, I know this has been asked many times, but I just need straight up information of me.
I’m right-handed in almost EVERYTHING I do, but I feel like I’m a left handed guitar player because when i ‘air’ strum it just feels more natural that way, but the right-handed way seems fine also, the left just feels like it flows easier.
&&I know the way I’m ‘naturally’ strumming is left handed because I strum with my left hand.
I never really played an acoustic guitar, &&I would like to begin this winter, but I don’t know what guitar to buy first at an affordable price. &&if you could, list the pros&&cons of being a left-handed guitar player &&a right- handed guitar player.
Please&&thankyou(:
I taught myself to play the guitar and I started with an inexpensive right-handed acoustic guitar. It just seemed very unnatural to me and my right-hand did not strum well at all. I could not keep up the rhythm with my right hand. So, I intuitively turned the guitar around and learned to play left-handed but, with right-handed tuning.
A few years ago, I bought a left-handed guitar and began learning to play with left-hand tuning. It was very easy to make the switch and now I can pick up a left-handed or right handed guitar and play it. It’s a good idea to learn on the correct guitar starting out.
I also began playing baseball as a right handed player both throwing and batting right handed. After getting into a fight in the school yard and injuring my right shoulder, I taught myself to throw left-handed in about two weeks so I could finish playing the season. Today, I can bat left or right handed and throw left or right handed equally as well.
What guitar to buy …
It would be best if you learn to play on an acoustic guitar (less expensive that way). There are only two guitars I would suggest you consider buying and they both come off the shelf in either a left-handed or right-handed model …

Most likely, you will want to keep either one of these guitars when you decide to invest in an electric guitar, amplifier, and effects.
The bottom line for you is the strumming hand. If you strum better with your right hand, chose a right handed guitar. If you left-hand has better rhythm, then chose a left-handed guitar.
It is harder to find the guitar you want as a left handed player. Most of my guitars had to be custom made. The rhythm hand however is the key to which way to play. Of course if you are like Michael Angelo Batio, you’ll be able to play both a left handed and right handed guitar at the same time … http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=63X9KJzm2YU – http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P-XfnkLdkjo&feature=related – Hope this helps you!
